The Green Space Development Committee (GSDC) has been created! To date, we have had three committee meetings full of enthusiastic discussion on ways to advance the beautification and enjoyment of the Koocanusa Village Community.
To set the foundation and focus for the Committee, we have embraced the following vision and mission statement:
The KVCA Green Space Development Committee strives to live through our mission statement.
Our goal is to make Koocanusa Village a welcoming place to live, play, and thrive.
The KVCA Green Space Development Committee is committed to a long-term presence in our community.
Through thoughtful planning, we are dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive lakeside environment that fosters connection, recreation, and sustainable living.
Join us in our mission to "Growing our lake community, one green space at a time!"
The Committee has set up an email address, gsdc@kvca.ca, to encourage community involvement through the submission of comments and suggestions. The Committee will issue an electronic community survey to understand members' priorities. The survey results will shape the Committee's creation of a 2025 development plan, which will be presented to the KVCA membership for approval at the 2025 AGM.
The Committee is taking a phased approach to green space development. For near term development, the following parameters will guide us:
- Feedback from community engagement survey
- Ease of project implementation
- State of the adjacent lots to the proposed green space development
- State of existing green space (i.e. Have funds been used to develop the green space, but the area remains incomplete?)
- Budget considerations
- Attain cost savings through community donations and collaboration.
